I am actually drowning. I have to submit TMA02 early because of the upcoming Easter Holidays of the kids. I am 1,5 weeks behind in posting and some reading. I am following the forum (which is indeed rather easy). But I see only a little chance to catch up. Private life is just a bit rough at the moment. Too many things are just now breaking down, need re-organization or attention, including my own health.
The TMA 01 result, even though I did not expect to have done it brilliantly, was rather poor. And I put a lot of work in it. My English seems not good enough and I need to find some native speaker to prove read my TMAs (no chance for TMA02 though). It was a frustrating experience.
I want to read and post ideas. But I have to admit that I feel a lack of motivation to discuss the topics of this and last week.
Regarding our group, I feel a need for more personal informal contact. Maybe that's just the time now. A face to face meeting would be appropriate after a certain time to keep up everybody’s motivation. But we are a in an online course.
What could be done instead? I think TMA03 is exactly addressing this problem with the request to quote our own posts. So we are somehow forced to overcome this low point.
But the pressure to post does not feel good. It is not addressing my need. The forum cafe could be seen as the place to go. But it is not the same as a real cafe, not only because everyone can follow the conversations.
Ulli, I can sympathise with what you say. I felt very similar before TMA01 (and only marginally better now approaching TMA02!). I decided to ignore about a week of content in order to address the last TMA, hoping to pick up later. Maybe you can ignore some of this week's work to allow you to concentrate on writing up the interview?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I wanted you to know you are not alone in feeling the pressure, and the challenge of life being tough ouside H807.
Best wishes,
Alice
Ulli, I support Alice's comments and also sympathise. I think that after TMA 1 there was a bit of a lull after the initial frenzy, and I found it difficult to get my brain back into the mix. As you say, with Easter coming everything is very busy, and your kids are more important.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are keeping on top of reading things, so don't worry - you can always post your thoughts later. And I think many others are still exploring last weeks topics anyway.
Maybe after the Easter we should arrange a group session on Elluminate or Skype session so we can encourage a bit more informal discussion around things if you think that might help.
As Alice says, you are not alone. Sam
Alice, Sama and Sylvia,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your encouraging comments!
That will help me to get TMA02 finished. I am almost done but so doubtful if I meet the requirements better this time.
I realise that I have a different view on things that it is not a teacher or pedagogic perspective. I am way out of my skills, experience and comfort zone.
It would be a great, if I would manage to change my view angle and gain a better understanding of the WHYs and HOWs.
Let's see if I have the stamina to go on until I reach this point.
p.s. Elluminate is a good idea.
ReplyDeleteHave another go, hopefully better than the first ...
Hallo Ulli,
ReplyDeletethings can be pretty frustrating, considering the time that you invest for studying and the results that you sometimes receive. I wish I could sometimes take the stance of others who say as long as I pass I am good to go. But I am often disappointed with the grades I achieve and ask as well why and how. Studying parting next to family and job is pretty demanding and we should be proud that we manage. But take care of your health, I pretty much ruined mine and although I want to achieve my MAODE degree it should be not worth to jeoparidze your health. Take care, fingers crossed for the TMA. I am still working on the transcript of my interview that I conducted last Friday.
Best wishes
Sylvia
